Every programme is shaped by the bulls it retains.
Our sires are selected not simply for what they look like, but for what their genetics can contribute to the generations that follow.
Over twenty bulls. Four kept.
In the past four years we travelled the country, took part in the auctions and accumulated over 20 bulls, from which we selected only the top four for our future breeding programme. We also used semen from famous bulls like Cumulus, Maximus and Uganda.
We had all our young bulls tested and evaluated — certificates are available — and we only use sexed semen produced from them through Ramsem in Bloemfontein.

These are not Fire Sky's own stud bulls, but their genetics run right through the herd — and through most of the animals in the catalogue. They are kept on the record because a pedigree that stops at the animals you own is not a pedigree.
Novus means new.
We acquired two young bulls from the recently imported new genetics — from Uganda via Kenya.
The new embryos imported via Kenya will add significantly to our gene pool, but it will be many years before the potential is demonstrable and performance is proven. These bulls could soon be used to expand the genetic pool of Fire Sky, combining new and unrelated genetics with South Africa's best.
